- Developing information and records management policies, strategic plans, and governance models.
- Integrating records management into information governance initiatives.
- Developing retention and destruction rules and schedules for paper and electronic records, including databases, digital documents, email, and social media.
- Identifying and analyzing general and sector-specific recordkeeping laws and regulations, including legal research to identify international requirements.
- Conducting surveys and gap analysis to identify and evaluate recordkeeping practices related to privacy, protection, and retention of personally identifiable information
- Preparing IG and RIM program evaluations, gap analysis, benchmarking studies, and risk assessments based on international standards, compliance requirements, and best practices.
- Conducting needs assessments and feasibility studies for electronic content management systems, records management application (RMA) software, email archiving systems, digital document imaging, document preservation systems, and other technology-based IG and RIM initiatives.
- Developing file taxonomies and metadata plans for digital document management.
- Performing market surveys and value analysis for IG and RIM products and services.
- Writing technical specifications, RFPs, RFQs, RFIs, and other solicitations for procurement of records management products and services.
- Preparing budgets, cost estimates, and cost justifications for IG and RIM operations and projects.
- Preparing impact analysis, risk mitigation, and disaster recovery plans for mission-critical information..
- Providing expert witness services for litigation dealing with matters related to records and information management.
I am also available to professional associations and other groups for speaking engagements, and I have a solid tracking record of working effectively as a subcontractor to other IG and RIM consultants who require particular capabilities, such as cost analysis or international retention research, to address client requirements.
